The 2016 Library Summer Challenge is Happening Now in Delaware!

 

The Delaware Division of Libraries and Delaware public libraries invite children, teens, and adults to join the 2016 Library Summer Challenge! Themes for this year revolve around physical activities, “On Your Mark, Get Set…Read” for kids, “Get in the Game, Read” for teens, and “Exercise Your Mind. Read!” for adults. Registration is free at all public libraries and incentive prizes are awarded based on reading and activity milestones.

 

Delaware’s First 3D Printer Road Show

The 3D Printer Road Show came to a roaring conclusion the final week of August as we visited four libraries in New Castle County.

Early in June the Division of Libraries offered to visit each Delaware public library for a day to demonstrate a variety of 3D printers, introduce 3D modeling, and discuss the state of 3D printing in public libraries throughout the country. Fifteen libraries welcomed us into their space over the course of July and August.

Themes for this year are “Every Hero has a Story” for kids, “Unmask” for teens, and “Escape the Ordinary” for adults. Registration is free and incentive prizes are awarded based on reading milestones.

3D printers, LEGO robots, lights, cameras and lots of action. Today’s Delaware library is much more than a place to find books.

T.S. Eliot once called the existence of libraries “the best evidence that we may yet have hope for the future of man.” That future is on display at Inspiration Spaces inside a handful of Delaware libraries.

Pac-Man and its ghosts are just a few of the items that have been created with the new 3D printer at the Lewes Public Library.

LEWES — Libraries throughout the state are taking the idea "anything is possible" to new heights.

The Delaware Division of Libraries recently provided eight libraries with cutting-edge 3-D printers. The idea is to keep up with new and evolving technology, while giving the public an opportunity to learn about it.
