The "You Be The Chemist Challenge" is an academic contest that encourages students to explore chemistry concepts and their real-world applications. It provides a unique opportunity for children (grades 5-8) to interact with industry professionals and other community partners through individual competition that starts at the school level and continues with Local, State, and National Challenge events.

Delaware eyes tax reforms, incentives for DowDupont ag unit

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Delaware government and business officials are celebrating the decision by the DuPont Co. and Dow Chemical to locate in Wilmington the corporate headquarters of the agriculture company to be spun off after their planned merger.

The companies announced Friday that Wilmington will be home of the agriculture company’s CEO and key corporate support functions. Leadership of business lines and support functions, research and development, and sales and marketing will be based in Iowa and Indiana.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - State officials are joining with the Dow chemical company and Junior Achievement to strengthen science, technology, engineering and math instruction in Delaware's middle schools.

Gov. Jack Markell planned to join members of Delaware's STEM Council on Tuesday to announce a partnership with businesses to give middle school students more exposure to learning in the four STEM fields.

The STEM Council was established as part of Delaware's Race to the Top education reform effort.

Gov. Jack Markell (D-Delaware) continued his support of educational partnerships with business that expose students to jobs in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields Tuesday.

JA It’s My Future, a new partnership between DOW Chemical, Junior Achievement Delaware and Gov. Markell’s STEM Council, is a six-week classroom introduction to careers in STEM fields. The initiative will begin a two year pilot program in the fall for 3,500 students at middle schools around Delaware.
