This summer’s New Normal Problem-Based Learning Academy was held on July 25-27, 2017 at the Virden Conference Center in Lewes, DE. The academy focus on problem-based learning promotes the Delaware Mathematics Coalition’s vision for teaching and learning.
"The Delaware Mathematics Coalition envisions classrooms in which competent and confident problem solvers flourish; all students are productively engaged in challenging mathematics instruction, and all teachers are supported in their efforts to become more knowledgeable and reflective practitioners"
"The PBL Academy was well organized, with themes consciously woven throughout each session. This is a major strength of the academy as well as the yearlong professional development. Teachers get experience with PBL, Rights of the Learner (RotL), and Rough Draft Talk (RDT). This is so important so we know what it feels like. It's harder to build new routines and culture in our classrooms if we haven't experienced it ourselves. And, we get to see experts at these ideas in action, even as they are still growing in their own craft."
